Scenario Returns.
This time, built to last.
You followed an old download to a 3D desktop — a floating dock, a gold-trimmed drive tower, widgets suspended over a scene. That page is gone. The idea behind it isn’t.
Every “Scenario” theme — the floating docks, the suspended widgets, the fully custom desktops — ran on a program called DesktopX. Stardock stopped developing it years ago. It doesn’t install cleanly on modern Windows, and the pages that hosted these builds have moved or disappeared since. The theme didn’t fail. The ground under it did.
A DesktopX alternative, rebuilt to last
Scenario returns, but it won’t depend on a discontinued program again. This time it’s built entirely on tools that are still actively maintained today — so it keeps working long after this launch.

01
RainmeterFree and open-source, still updated. Every floating object — the dock, the drive tower, the icon arc — becomes a Rainmeter skin, positioned and clickable exactly like before.

02
A living backgroundThe waterfall moves this time. An animated scene sits behind the skins instead of a static image, using Wallpaper Engine or the free Lively Wallpaper.

03
A cleared desktopIcons hidden, native to Windows. Nothing sits on the desktop that isn’t part of the scene.
